On March 6th my novel, A Perfectly Nice Family, was released into the wilds of Amazon.
Cue: champagne, parties, gifts and an entire day of celebration… or not.
It was, in fact, quite an ordinary day. I walked the dog, posted on Facebook, thanked lovely readers who have given me some fabulous reviews and had my parents over for dinner.
I did get to eat some spectacular gluten free treats sent by my publisher which is pretty much as good as it gets.
Release days are nice because it’s wonderful to see your book go live, to read reviews from bloggers and to be congratulated by fans. But all of that takes place online. The world is very different now, so real life is lived around checking social media and wondering what everyone will think. It’s an ordinary day but it’s a pretty good ordinary day.
